Today was set aside as a sort of free day, but much of the time we casually did a few things together. It was a very summery day that reached 21 C, 70 F, amazing for Ireland in late September.
We eagerly prepare to set off
from Ballaghboy Lodge Farm
First stop in Sligo Town was some time at Michael Quirke's, storytelling wood carver
who quickly carved out some keepsakes for the girls as he told stories around their names
Michael had very little to sell. These days all he carves seems to be instantly sold
Hargadan's grow their own food, have their own hens and eggs, and even have a French vineyard that supplies their wines and olive oil.
Lunch here was enjoyed immensely :-)
With sunny 21 C outside nobody wanted to be sitting in a pub for long, or wandering about town ... so we went off to The Glen, a magical hidden spot below Knocknarea mountain outside of Sligo
This day of visit to Sligo finished with highly relaxing seaweed baths
and we leave Strandhill and Sligo for a peaceful evening and night at Ballaghboy Lodge Farm
with a stop at Tobernault Holy Well at dusk on the way back
